This page describes the cookies and similar storage used on the Hillside Greenhouse storefront. It is separate from the privacy policy, which covers order records.
What a cookie is on this site
A cookie is a small text file the browser stores for a site. The store also uses local storage for the same kind of job: keeping a cart, remembering a login, and understanding which pages loaded. We do not use cookies to learn the contents of your greenhouse or to follow you onto unrelated sites for our own advertising network. We do not run one.
What they do here
- Cart and checkout cookies keep the kits in your cart while you move from a collection to checkout. The shop cannot sell online without them.
- A session cookie keeps you signed in if you use a customer account.
- Security cookies help Shopify detect a tampered checkout.
- Analytics cookies, if enabled on the theme, count visits so we can see whether the kit pages are used. They are not used to build a sold advertising profile.
How to refuse the optional ones
You can block or delete cookies in the browser. If you block the cart cookies, checkout will not remember the kit you added. You can still email us an order. Browser help pages for the major browsers explain how to clear site data. Refusing analytics cookies does not change your order.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers send a Do Not Track flag or a Global Privacy Control signal. Shopify’s checkout honors the privacy tools that platform provides. Hillside does not sell personal information, so a sale opt-out does not change a list we do not operate. We still process the order data described in the privacy policy, because that is required to ship the crate. The Your Privacy Choices page is the place to send a state-law opt-out signal.
When this page changes
If we add an analytics tool or a chat widget that sets its own cookies, we will update this page and change the date. The current date is September 28, 2026. The cart and checkout cookies described above are the ones the store uses now.

We read email on business days. If a kit is already on a truck, call so we can reach the carrier the same day.
