Privacy policy

This page explains what Hillside Greenhouse collects when you browse the shop or place an order, why we keep it, and who else sees it. It was written for this store on September 28, 2026. We sell greenhouse kits, cold frames, and accessories from Boaz, Alabama, and we ship only inside the United States.

What we collect

Order details

When you check out we collect the name, shipping address, phone number, email, and the kits or parts on the order. Shopify processes the card payment. We do not store your full card number on our own computers. We keep the order number, the amount charged, and the shipping method so we can pack and, if needed, refund.

Account details

If you create a customer account, we store the name, email, and password credential that Shopify keeps for that account, plus the orders tied to it. You can shop as a guest. An account is optional.

Messages you send us

Email, phone calls, and contact-form notes are kept with the order they refer to. That includes photos you send of a damaged panel or a missing bracket.

How the site is used

The storefront records basic technical data such as browser type, pages viewed, and a rough location derived from the IP address. We use that to keep the site working and to see which collection pages are actually used. See the cookie page for the details.

Messages you asked for

We send order confirmations and shipping notices because you placed an order. We send a newsletter or a restock note only if you asked for it. You can stop those notes at any time.

Why we use it

We use order data to take payment, pack the right frame, ship it to the address you gave us, and handle a return or a damage claim. We use account data so you can see past orders. We use messages so we can answer you. We use site analytics to fix broken pages. We use marketing preferences only for mail you opted into. We do this to perform the sale you asked for and to run a lawful retail business under United States and Alabama rules that apply to a small online shop.

Who else receives it

Shopify hosts the store and processes checkout. The carrier that picks up the crate receives the delivery name, address, and phone. Our payment processor receives what it needs to charge or refund the card. If you ask us to, we may share a photo of damage with the carrier so a freight claim can be opened. We do not sell your name or address to list brokers.

Records leaving the United States

We fulfill orders only to addresses in the United States. We do not route Hillside orders through a warehouse in another country. Shopify and the card networks may process a payment on systems that sit outside Alabama. That processing is part of taking the payment, not a separate transfer of your order to an overseas seller.

How long we keep it

We keep order records, invoices, and refund notes for as long as tax and accounting rules require, which for a typical sales record is several years. Damage photos are kept with the claim until the replacement or refund is finished, then with the order file. Marketing addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Server logs kept by the storefront host follow Shopify’s own retention schedule.

Choices you can make

You can ask for a copy of the order information we hold, ask us to correct a shipping address on an open order, or ask us to delete a marketing address. You can unsubscribe from optional mail with the link in that mail. Some records have to stay because of tax, fraud, or an open return. Write to contact@HillsideGreenhouse.shop and include the email you used at checkout. We answer privacy requests within 30 days.

The separate page Your Privacy Choices is where you can signal an opt-out of sale or sharing of personal information where a state law gives you that choice. Hillside does not sell customer lists.

Problems with privacy

If you think we handled your information badly, email the shop first. If we cannot fix it, you can contact the Alabama Attorney General’s consumer protection office or the attorney general in the state where you live. The complaints page describes how we handle a shop complaint.
